Best. Job. Ever. When a friend of mine called to see if I could paint the 40th Anniversary party for her parents, I thought it was a great idea. The painting was a gift to the parents from the siblings to remember this special occasion, and the party took place under a full moon, twinkling tree lights, and among laughter from family and friends. I was honored to have been commissioned to capture this special occasion. What makes an event painting so special is the fact that the painting is created live and slowly takes shape as the evening progresses, guests can watch as the painting comes to life. I am often asked if it makes me nervous to paint “on-the-spot” while people are watching me, but I enjoy the interaction and it actually helps me to capture the spirit of the event! The style of my event paintings are somewhat different from my signature “impasto” style, because I use a brush mostly to loosely capture the movement of the people, etc. This party was way fun! And the best part? Now they have an awesome painting of their special night, I’m pretty sure they were pleased.
